Every building and work of art has a human story behind it.
The architectural heritage of these buildings and the artworks associated with them lie at the heart of GSK’s publications. Today, we also wish to draw attention to the men and women who constructed, adorned and brought these buildings to life. Firstly, we are focusing on the contribution made by women.

The Swiss Art Women database is a free, open-access resource in which historical data on women active in architecture, art, and arts and crafts between 1300 and 1980 is collected and expanded.
Swiss Art Women is linked to other existing databases on related topics, some of which are currently under development.
Swiss Art Women is updated regularly as our work progresses. Currently, this is being carried out within the 'Monuments of Art and History of Switzerland' collection.
To date, we have processed 27 of the collection's 152 volumes.
